| Company: | The City of New York – #1 municipality
for claims filed |
|
| Line of Business: | Office of the Comptroller –
a variety of plaintiff attorney represented bodily injury claims |
| Client History: | Cybersettle customer since
February 2004 |
Challenge:
- Like most other municipalities, the City of New York is facing increasing
budget pressures.
- The City of New York was looking for a way to:
- reduce their inventory of 40,000 claims file backlog,
- speed-up their claims settlement process, and
- Reduce taxpayer burden by lowering costs associated with resolution of
judgments and claims
Resolution:
- Implemented a "demonstrative project" where sidewalk, school, roadway, city
property, traffic device, motor vehicle, recreation and personal injury cases
were submitted to Cybersettle.
- Cybersettle was "integrated" into the City’s claims management system
thereby improving the acceptance of the new system by their internal adjusters.
- More than 1,200 claims were submitted.
Results:
- 66% settlement rate within 30 days of submission.
- $11.6 Million in litigation and other related cost savings.
- Increased City pre-litigation settlements / reduced claim cycle time.
- Allowed City to reallocate resources to revenue-generating initiatives.
- Estimated ROI: 1,000+%
